Volunteer Registration Form

Thank you for your interest in serving with us! We look forward to welcoming you to Appalachian Eastern Kentucky.

Please have your Group Leader fill out and submit this form. The application has a rolling deadline. Along with your application, please also fill out and submit the Construction Information Form (pdf). Email that completed form to janie@hdahome.org. With your application, there is a volunteer deposit ($50 per person) due by April 18, 2023. The deposit can be made by postal mail. Send a check made payable to Housing Development Alliance, Inc., c/o Volunteer Coordinator Jane Rose Britton, P.O. Box 7284, Hazard, KY 41702.

*Please note that you can also send the full volunteer fee ($50 deposit + $175 fee for each volunteer) by postal mail, or you can send only the deposit by mail and pay the fee(s) upon your arrival. Just be sure to get your deposit in so we can save your date(s)!

  • We require all groups to provide their own vehicles for transportation to and from the work sites each day. Each work site vehicle should be able to accommodate a group of six volunteers. Vans work very well for work site transportation. School buses are not allowed. NOTE: You MUST have a vehicle for each work crew. Crews are a maximum of SIX people.

  • All groups MUST specify their arrival date and departure date. You may choose to stay late/arrive early for Sunday services at First Presbyterian Church in Hazard, though this is not required.

  • Inclement Weather Notice

    We hope you have a bright, sunny week, but you know what they say: "You can't predict the weather!" This is especially true in the state of Kentucky, where the weather is often varied and unpredictable within the same day/week. You may experience an all-day downpour, or it could be a brief shower that you can wait out. If we make the decision to stop work, please know that it's in the interest of your safety! Thank you for understanding that carpentry work very much depends on the weather.
